UNLV Defeats Air Force, 86-53

USAF, Colo. - (Feb. 23) The Air Force women's basketball team suffered a major letdown, falling to UNLV 86-53 in conference action. It was the worst loss of the season for the Falcons, who are winless in 12 Mountain West games.
The Falcons fell behind early, struggling to score. At the half, the team was trailing 43-19, a 24-point deficit. The Falcons never rebounded, and they ended up with the 33-point loss, the largest defeat of the season.
Ali Tomlinson scored 17 points to lead the Falcons in scoring. Amoy Jackson added 10 points and Samantha Clifton had seven rebounds. Latoya Howell had eight steals, setting a new Air Force Division I record for the most steals in a single game.
All-American candidate led all scorers with 22 points, while Constance Jinks had 12 points. Sherry McCracklin had 10 rebounds and Julia Gray had nine assists.
The Falcons shot 30.4 percent (17-of-56) from the field and 21.4 percent (3-of-14) from three-point range. The team was 76.2.0 percent (16-of-21) from the free throw line. The 86 points surrendered by Air Force was the most given up all season and the first time the team has given up more than 80 points in back-to-back games.
Air Force (4-21, 0-12 MWC) will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 27, when they travel Fort Collins to play Colorado State. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
