Falcons upset No. 62 SMU, 4-3

The Air Force women's tennis team posted its first-ever win against a Top 75-ranked squad Thursday with a 4-3 victory over No. 62 Southern Methodist at the Academy.
The Falcons opened the match by winning the doubles point for the 13th time in 14 matches this season with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Brooke Parsons and Laura Nigro squeaked by SMU's Kit Carson and Jenny Langer, 9-7, at No. 1, while Gina Black and Heather Shelby remained undefeated with an 8-6 victory at the No. 2 position over Lynsie Jones and Sara Cortas. SMU's Allison Leuszler and Siayach Rambally beat AFA's Kelli O'Bryant and Ashley Gee, 8-6, at No. 3.
Parsons and Nigro got Air Force two more points with straight-set victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. SMU posted its first point as Langer defeated Shelby, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot.
Jones then fought off six match points to defeat Gee, 6-3, 6-7, 7-5 at the No. 4 position, and Rambally beat O'Bryant, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 5 to even the team match at 3-3.
Black and Cortas played a wonderful three-setter in the deciding match, with Black prevailing 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 and clinch the match for the Falcons.
