Iowa State scored two second-half goals and goalkeeper Beth Chapman stopped all four shots on goal as the Cyclones defeated Air Force, 3-0, in the season-opener for both teams Friday, Aug. 30, at the Academy's Cadet Soccer Stadium.
The Cyclones, 1-0, opened the scoring in the 32nd minute on an unassisted goal by Kelly Burke. Early in the second half, Nikki Gamble scored from Kristina Baumann in the 47th minute.
