Ryan Dorsey earned Boxer of the Week Honors for his 139-pound victory over Nevada's Jesse Wabble last Saturday at the Nevada-Reno Invitational.
"Ryan is a tall boxer for his weight class and I never thought he would be at a height disadvantage," said head coach Eddie Weichers, Jr. "But he gave up two inches to Wabble and he had to change his style to get inside to Wabble's body."
Dorsey used a good job to work in close and the landed several right hands to Wabble's head, according to Weichers. In the third round, already leading on points, Wabble attempted to put his taller foe away, but Wabble proved to be to elusive.
The boxing team now prepares for the Wing Open tournament. The Finals are scheduled for Sunday, March 9 at 5 p.m. in Clune Arena.
