Cuny Earns Boxer Of The Week Award

C2C Zeke Cuny was named Boxer of the Week for winning his 158-pound bout against C4C Josh Walton on Thursday, Jan. 30th.
Cuny took command early in the fight by using his reach with the jab. As he moved with the jab, he was able to connect with several powerful right hands in the first round. Walton proved to be a very capable boxer as he gave the upper classman a tough fight throughout the three rounds.
The next scheduled competition for the Falcon boxers is Saturday in Reno with bouts against Nevada, Santa Clara, UNLV, Cal-Berkeley and San Jose State. These will be the final bouts prior to the start of the Wing Open tourney which begins on Feb. 13. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Feb. 20 with the semifinal bouts set for Feb. 26. All elimination rounds will be held in the cadet gym upper boxing room starting at 4 p.m. The finals will be Sunday, March 9 at 5 pm in Clune arena. Admission is free.
