Women Lose To Navy And Army

The women's track team lost to both Navy and Army Saturday at a triangular hosted by the Midshipmen at Ingram Field. Navy outscored the Falcons 113-90 and Army scored 110 to the Falcons 93 points.
"I was pleased with our effort but not pleased with our performance," is how Falcon head coach Ralph Lindeman described the outcome.
Jocelyn Dooley, Dominique Boivin and Jean Taylor won their respective events. Dooley easily captured the javelin title with a throw of 142-feet, 8-inches. Teammate Lacy DeWall finished second in the event with a throw of (131-feet, 9-inches). Boivin won the discus (147-feet, 2-inches) and Taylor dominated the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:11.08, almost 12 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. Taylor's time was also her fastest ever in the event.
In the 400-meter dash, Katy Crow posted her fastest time ever at 58.15 to finish third and Elissa Ballas also finished third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:45.27.
In competition this week, the men's team travels to Tempe, AZ to compete in the Sun Angel Classic at Arizona State. The women have the week off in preparation for the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, CA beginning on April 17.
