Lefever One of Five Honored for Academics

Five Air Force Academy cadet-athletes have been selected to the Verizon Academic All-District VII teams this week as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Seniors John Dayton (swimming) and Eric Pittman (tennis) and junior Mike Polidor (ice hockey) were selected to the first team. Their names will now appear on the national ballot for Academic All-American honors. The three first-team selections is the most of any school in the district.
Senior Elia Burrill (fencing), the only woman named from the Academy, and sophomore Lucas Lefever (wrestling) were selected to the second-team.
Dayton, from Hendersonville, Nev., has a 3.79 grade point average and is majoring in aerospace engineering. Pittman, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, has a 3.59 GPA and is majoring in biology. Polidor is majoring in astronautical engineering and has a 3.87 GPA. He is a native of Imperial, Pa. A Truckee, Calif., native, Burrill has a 3.74 GPA and is a business management major.
Lefever, a native of La Crosse, Wis., majors in civil engineering with a 3.79 GPA. He was also an honorable mention selection to the NCAA Division I All-Academic team.
District VII includes all schools within the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. The Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan are also represented.
