The Air Force volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Portland State 3-0 (24-30, 25-30, 22-30) in the final game of the Army Invitational. The Falcons finished the tournament 2-1 overall.
After just two hours rest, the Falcons played the second game of the day against the Vikings, who were playing their first game of the second day of the tournament. The Falcons fought hard but never challenged a strong Portland State team.
Delavane Diaz, who had an outstanding tournament, notched 14 kills in the match. She added 12 digs for her second double-double of the tournament. Kristin Huitt had 38 assists and nine digs for the Falcons, while freshman Lindsay Bengard and Kristin Hamlett each had nine kills.
The Falcons will be on the road again next weekend, when they travel to Atlanta for the Georgia State Invitational tournament. Air Force will take on Southern Alabama, Samford, Virginia Commonwealth and Georgia State in the two-day tournament.
