Air Force Takes Eastern Illinois in Five Games

The Air Force volleyball team won a grueling, five-game match over Eastern Illinois, 3-2 (14-30, 30-26, 30-27, 28-30, 16-14), to win its final match of the Portland State Invitational. The Falcons finished the weekend 1-2 and have an overall record of 9-4.
After losing the first game by 16 points, the Falcons rebounded to win the next two. They then lost the fourth game, but closed out the match with a game-five victory.
Three Falcons finished the match in double figures in kills. Delavane Diaz and Kristin Hamlett paced the team with 16 kills each, followed by Lamecca Jefferson with 14 kills. Diaz added her sixth double-double of the season with 19 digs. Setter Kristin Huitt also had a double-double with 44 assists and 11 digs. Brittany Edmonds notched the first double-digit digs output of the season with 12 digs and Molly White had a career-high eight total blocks.
Air Force will open the Mountain West Conference schedule on Friday, Sept. 26th, when the Falcons host New Mexico. Match time is 7 p.m. MST.
