Amy Gearlds scored 30 points to lead IPFW to a 83-70 victory over the Air Force women's basketball team. It was the third consecutive loss for the Falcons, who fall to 83-70 overall.
Gearlds connected on her first four three-point attempts to lead the way for the Mastodons. Air Force kept the game close throughout, but the IPFW offense was too much for the Falcons. They shot 50.0 percent from the field and had three players in double figures in scoring -- Gearlds, Verea Bibbs (15) and Courtney Nicley (18). Bibbs added 10 rebounds for the double double.
Shawna Neff scored 18 points to lead all Falcon players in scoring. It was the team's highest individual scoring output of the season. Amoy Jackson added 13 points and freshman Dawn Higginbothem had a career-high 10 points, the first double-figure scoring output of her career. Air Force shot 44.4 percent (28-63) from the floor.
The Falcons will be back in action on Jan. 10, when they travel to Ogden, Utah, to take on Weber State.
