Falcons Split Four Matches During Weekend

The Air Force men's tennis team went 2-2 in four matches at the Academy. On Saturday, the Falcons defeated fellow service-academy rival Army, 6-1, and lost to Montana State, 5-2. On Sunday, Air Force dropped a 4-2 decision to Drake before beating UMKC, 6-1.
Air Force's No. 1 singles player, sophomore Shannon Buck, went 3-1 during the weekend, winning all three of his matches in straight sets. Buck, ranked No. 35 in the country, lost his second match of the season to Federico Ueltschi of Montana State in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 on Saturday. Buck is 19-4 overall and 11-2 in dual matches this season.
Buck and his doubles partner, junior Tyler McClung, won all four of their matches at the No. 1 doubles spot. The duo is now 14-2 overall and 12-1 in dual matches at the No. 1 position.
McClung shone in singles, winning all four of his matches at No. 4 singles in straight sets. Sophomore Trevor Johnson, junior Chris Dong and freshman Justin Lau each won two matches at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Air Force, 8-5 this season in dual matches, takes on Boston University on Tuesday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at the Academy.
