Dana Pounds Selected to USA Under-23 National Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Air Force All-American javelin thrower Dana Pounds (Lexington, Ky.) has been selected to compete at the 2004 NACAC Track and Field Championships in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, as a member of the USA Under-23 National Team.
The third-annual international meet will feature over 350 athletes from 28 countries around North America, Central America and the Caribbean (the NACAC athletic association).
The Falcon junior-to-be earned the selection following a fifth-place finish at the 2004 NCAA Track and Field Championships and a sixth-place finish at the U.S. Olympic Trials. At the trials, Pounds finished second among collegiate performers, beat the 2004 NCAA javelin champion and set a new Academy record of 173'3".
Pounds is scheduled to compete in the javelin finals on Friday, July 30, at 8:10 p.m., at the Universit? de Sherbrooke Stadium in Sherbrooke, Canada. The competition runs through Sunday, Aug. 1.
