Air Force Golfers End Season At UH Fall Invitational

The Air Force golf team brings its fall season to a close this week as it travels to Kaneohe, Hawaii, for the University of Hawaii Fall Invitational, Nov. 7-9. The event, which is being held at the par-72, 6,269-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course, will feature one round per day, with the action beginning with an 8:00 shotgun start each morning.
Last Time Out...
Last week, the Falcons finished 15th at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, hosted by New Mexico State.
Junior Tyler Goulding, who finished each round at or under par, paced the team by tying for ninth place at 214, while senior captain Scott Redmond was tied for 53rd at 225. Rounding out the pack for Air Force were sophomores Bob Whitney (T71), Tyler Labrum (T73) and Jared Freeman (78).
The Field...
The field for the 2005 University of Hawaii Fall Invitational features 21 teams, including nine which are ranked among the top 100 in the latest Golfweek ratings. Following is a list of the teams slated to compete, with current rankings in parentheses: Air Force, Baylor (28), Cal Poly, Central Oklahoma, Charlotte (23), Drake, Hartford, Hawaii, Louisiana Tech, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico State (73), Osaka Gakuin, San Diego (83), San Diego State (21), San Francisco, Santa Clara (42), St. Mary's (Calif.), UC Riverside, UNLV (6), Weber State (72), Wyoming (99).
In the Ratings...
Air Force is rated 114th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin team performance ratings, while junior Tyler Goulding leads the Falcons in the individual ratings at 95. The Sagarin rankings are based on power rating, schedule strength, schedule rank and records.
A Top-10 Guy...
By tying for ninth place overall at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, junior Tyler Goulding notched his third top-10 finish of the season and the 10th top-10 finish of his career. It also marked the 14th time (out of 17 total tournaments) in the past two seasons that Goulding has been the Falcons' top individual performer. The only other Air Force golfer who has led the team this season was sophomore Tyler Labrum, who finished second at the Service Academy Golf Classic in October.

The Falcons are idle for the remainder of the fall, but begin their spring schedule Feb. 13-14, when they travel to San Diego, Calif., for the Pala Mesa Invitational, hosted by Drake University.
