Air Force hosts Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational

50th annual tournament is hosted at the Eisenhower Golf Club
THIS WEEK: The Air Force men's golf team hosts the 50th annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Friday.-Sunday, Sept. 7-9, at the Eisenhower Golf Club. The 16-team, three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the Blue Course. On Friday and Saturday, golfers will play 18 holes with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. (MT). Sunday's tee times will begin at 7:15 am (MT). Live stats are available at www.Golfstat.com.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational is in its 50th season. Formerly known as the Rocky Mountain Invitational and the Pikes Peak Invitational, the event was re-named the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in 2003 to honor the legendary coach who headed up the Air Force program for 25 years and is a member of the Air Force Athletics' Hall of Fame.
EISENHOWER BLUE COURSE: The Blue Course of the Eisenhower Golf Club opened in the 1959 and is named after former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who took part in the dedication ceremony. The 7,511 yard, par 72 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and is currently ranked as the third best military course in the nation (PGA.com) and the 24th best college course (Golf Week) in the country.
A LOOK AT THE FIELD: Competing Teams: Air Force, Abilene Christian, Colorado, Drake, Missouri State, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, SIU Edwardsville, Southern Utah, Texas State, UC Davis, Utah State, Utah Valley State, Weber State and Wyoming.
