Air Force Men Take First at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. -- With four of the five senior scorers finishing within the top 10, the Air Force men's cross country team won the 29-team Woody Greeno Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17, in Lincoln, Neb. On the women's side, Air Force finished seventh of 31 teams.
Senior Nick Wilson (Jacksonville, Fla.) led the way, taking a fifth-place time of 25:19. Classmate Jeff Gosselin (Cornelius, N.C.) was right on his heels, with a sixth-place time of 25:20. Mark Walter (League City, Texas) clocked a 25:31 to take seventh, while Travis Patterson (Simi Valley, Calif.) crossed the finish line in 25:34 to finish ninth. The team's final scoring runner, sophomore Calvin Glass (Antelope, Calif.), finished 15th with a time of 26:01.
Senior Nicole Graham (Blue Springs, Mo.) led the women's team with a fourth-place time of 22:06. Teammate Andrea Pinchak (Shaker Heights, Ohio) also recorded a top-20 finish, taking 19th, behind a time of 23:02. Junior Margaret Frash (Newburyport, Mass.) finished 24th after crossing the finish line in 24:58. Kate Papenberg (Red Lion, Pa.) and Jamie Illig clocked times of 24:58 and 25:04, respectively, to finish 104th and 108th.
The Falcons are off until Saturday, Oct. 1, when they spilt up for a pair of competitions. Part of the squad will travel to Salem, Ore., for the Willamette Invitational, while the rest of the team heads to Boulder, Colo., for the Rocky Mountain Shootout.
