Scott Balcao Named MWC Runner of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force sophomore Scott Balcao (Stockton, Calif.) was named the Mountain West Conference men's cross country athlete of the week, the league office announced today (Oct. 10). Balcao shared the weekly honor with Anne Heiner of BYU, who won the women's award.

Balcao was the first Falcon to cross the finish line at the Fort Hays State Tiger Invitational last Saturday, leading the Air force to its third straight team title at that meet. Clocking a time of 26:18, Balcao finished ninth in the 122-member race.

He is the second Air Force athlete to earn the conference's weekly honor this season, as classmate Matt Williams won the award following the season-opening Wyoming Invitational. The Falcons head to Terre Haute, Ind., this Saturday (Oct. 14) for the Pre-NCAA Meet.
