Air Force Drops Road Contest To Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wis. - Unable to overcome a sluggish opening half, the Air Force women's basketball team fell to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 65-53, Thursday evening, at the Klotsche Center. The Falcons fall to 3-5 on the season, while the Panthers move to 4-6.

UWM began the game on a 7-0 run to get off to a solid start, while the Falcons could never get closer than five points. Air Force struggled in the opening half, shooting just 16 percent from the field, while giving up 21 rebounds. Meanwhile, the Panthers hit nearly 47 percent of their shots in the first stanza en route to a 36-13 lead at intermission.

The Falcons gradually began chipping away at their deficit, but the Panthers had an answer for every Air Force run. The Falcons were unable to get any closer than 15 points, until the final seconds of the game when senior Letricia Castillo (Anchorage, Alaska) knocked down her fourth three-pointer of the contest.

Castillo led the team with 18 points, eight of which came in the final 48 seconds, while junior Pamela Findlay (Glenview, Ill.) added 11 points and seven rebounds. Meanwhile, Traci Edwards led the Panthers with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

The Falcons wrap up this week's road trip on Saturday, when they visit Illinois-Chicago. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m. (CT).
