Falcons Finish In 12th Place At Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite

St. George, Utah -- After firing a 314 in the second round, the Air Force golf team finished 12th with a two-round score of 611 at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite, hosted by Southern Utah at the par-72, 6,781-yard Sunbrook Golf Club. The host Thunderbirds, finishing 13-under-par at 563, captured the team title, while Boise State's Graham Delaet won medalist honors with a score of 136 (-8).
Pacing the Falcons in the tournament was junior Tyler Goulding (Tracy, Calif.), who finished tied for 28th with a 147 after firing a 78 in round two. Freshman Shaun O'Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo.) posted the best round of the day for Air Force, shooting a 76 on Tuesday to finish tied for 45th at 151. Meanwhile, sophomore Bob Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) finished right behind in a tie for 50th place at 151, after firing a 77 in the second round.
Rounding out Air Force's official group were freshman Andrew Gibson (San Ramon, Calif.), who tied for 77th with a 161 after shooting an 83 on Tuesday, and sophomore Matt Tanis (Asbury, N.J.), who shot an 84 in round two to finish in 87th place with a 170.
Also representing the Falcons in the season-opening tournament were Jared Freeman (So., Brazil, Ind.) and Andy Davis (Fr., Germantown, Tenn.), both competing as individuals. Freeman finished tied for 41st with a 149 after posting a 77 in the second round, while Davis ended up tied for 80th at 164 after shooting a 85 on Tuesday.
The Air Force golf team continues its spring schedule in Goodyear, Ariz., March 20-21 in the Ron Moore Invitational, hosted by the University of Denver.
