Falcons end season with 11-20-1 mark

In Closing: Air Force finished the season with an 11-20-1 overall record. The Falcons were 8-12 in College Hockey America to tie for fourth place. AFA was the fifth seed in the CHA Tournament in Detroit, Mich., but lost to fourth-seeded Robert Morris, 4-3, in the first round.
Tournament Notes: Bemidji State defeated Alabama-Huntsville and Niagara to win the CHA Tournament for the second consecutive season. The Beavers advanced to the NCAA Tournament to face top-seeded Wisconsin in the Green Bay regional.
CHA Awards: Four Falcons were named to the CHA all-league teams while a school-record 11 players were named to the academic team. Senior defenseman Brooks Turnquist was named the CHA Student-Athlete of the Year. Sophomore winger Eric Ehn and freshman defenseman Michael Mayra were named to the second team. Mayra was also named to the CHA all-rookie team. Sophomore center Josh Schaffer earned the Easton Three-Star Award. The Falcons placed a school-record 11 players on the all-academic team. All three seniors, Matt Bader, Mike Knaeble and Brooks Turnquist were on the team along with juniors Billy Devoney, Jay Medenwaldt, Ben Worker and Theo Zacour and sophomores Matt Charbonneau, Eric Ehn, Frank Schiavone and Peter Shenk.
Final Season in CHA: The 2005-06 season was Air Force's last in the CHA. The Falcons were charter members of the league and began play in the 1999-2000 season. Air Force has joined Atlantic Hockey and will begin play in the league for the 2006-07 season.
Most CHA Wins in School History: Air Force's eight CHA wins this season are a new school record. AFA joined the CHA for the 1999-00 season. The Falcons have won six games four times (1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2003-04). The 2000-01 team set the school record for league points with 16 (six wins and four ties). AFA tied that record with 16 points (eight wins) this season.
