Three Falcons Claim Regional Semifinal Victories

BERKELEY, Calif. -- Three members of the Air Force boxing team claimed victories at the National Collegiate Boxing Association Regional Semifinals on Friday, March 24. Air Force's three winners will advance to the regional championships on tomorrow night.
In the Falcons' first bout of the evening, junior Ezekiel Ignaco won his 119-pound contest by decision with Nevada's Tristan Rivera. Sophomore Clifford Moore and junior Joe Conrad also picked up decisions, as Moore defeated UNLV's Greg Murrell at 156 pounds and Conrad decisioned Santa Clara's Chris Haley at 165 pounds.
Four other Falcons also competed in the regional semifinal, but ended up on the wrong side of the decision. Making his regional debut, freshman Nicholas Goc lost to Nevada's David Schacter at 132 pounds, while junior Jahmil Edwards dropped a 147-pound bout to Jeff Watkins of UNLV. In the higher weight classes, Evin Negron was decisioned by Nevada's Kenny Dyer-Redner at 175 pounds, while senior Oscar Casillas dropped a 185-pound contest with Jason Crocco of UNLV.
Air Force concludes regional action tomorrow (March 25) night with eight championship bouts. In addition to tonight's three winners, Air Force will be represented by five other boxers - Willie Lloyd (112), Jeremy Homan (125), Luis Pena (139), John Quinn (195) and Ian Tuznik (hywt) - who had byes into the championship round of competition.
