Falcons Finish Ninth At Mountain West Conference Championship

Sunriver, Ore. -- The Air Force golf team finished in ninth place at the 2006 Mountain West Conference Championship, being held at the 7,630-yard, par-72 Crosswater Course at the Sunriver Resort. The Falcons finished at 219, while New Mexico, which finished at 865 (+1), captured its fourth straight conference title, followed by San Diego State, UNLV, BYU, TCU, Colorado State, Utah and Wyoming. The Lobos' Jay Choi won medalist honors, firing a 215 (-1) for the tournament.

Junior Tyler Goulding (Tracy, Calif.) led the Falcons, finishing tied for 12th place at 219 (+3). Sophomore Tyler Labrum (Roosevelt, Utah), fired a 79 in the final round and finished in 39th place at 235, while sophomores Matt Tanis (Asbury, N.J.) and Bob Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) finished 42nd and 43rd, respectively, at 242 and 242. Rounding out the group for Air Force was junior Chad Follett (El Paso, Texas), who finished 44th with a three-round total of 246.
