Falcons Conclude Competition At NCAA Regionals

AUSTIN, Texas - Five members of the Air Force track and field team wrapped up competition today (May 27) at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in Austin, Texas.
Juniors Marcus Wells and Matt Schwandt finished ninth and 11th, respectively, in the javelin throw to open Saturday's action. Wells' toss of 198'4" was just shy of at-large consideration to the national meet, while Schwandt recorded a throw of 196'8".
Classmate Olivia Korte placed 10th in the discus throw. Despite her first two throws going foul, Korte rebounded with a 166'8" in her final throw to place within the top half of the 24 competitors.
Sophomore Kelly Robinson clocked a time of 4:44.16 to finish 12th in the 1500-meter run, while junior Margaret Frash crossed the finish line of the 3000-meter steeplechase in 11:17.41 to finish 13th.
Senior Dana Pounds, who qualified for the national meet in the javelin yesterday, will head to Sacramento, Calif., for the NCAA National Championships on June 7-10.
