Travis Picou to Compete in NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Air Force sophomore Travis Picou was added to the roster for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the national office announced this weekend. Due to an injured athlete's withdrawal, Picou will represent the Academy in the 200-meter dash. He will be the fourth Air Force athlete to compete in this year's national meet.

The Falcons' sophomore finished ninth in the 200-meter dash at the recent NCAA Midwest Regional, but is ranked among the nation's elite in that event with a career-best, Academy record-setting time of 20.73.

In addition to his success during the spring season, Picou competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past winter, finishing 13th in the 200-meter dash. His indoor championship-meet time of 21.24 was the second-best time in the conference, surpassed by only his MWC title time of 21.11.

Picou will join classmate Kevin Hawkins (800-meter run), junior Olivia Korte (discus throw) and senior Dana Pounds (javelin throw) at the national meet. He will compete in the first round of competition at 5:30 p.m., on Wednesday (June 7).
