Air Force Baseball Announces Incoming Class of 2010

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Four all-state selections highlight the incoming baseball class of 2010 at the Air Force Academy, announced today by head baseball coach Mike Hutcheon. The 14 freshmen comprise the biggest recruiting class in Hutcheon's fourth year under the helm for the Falcons, who went 10-38 in 2006.
Stephen Bintz (Londonderry, N.H.), Tyler McBride (Broomfield, Colo.), Kyle Rowland (Woodland, Mich.) and J.D. Sprague (Phoenix, Ariz.) were all-state selections in their respective states. Rowland was a two-time all-state selection.
The Falcons welcome five players from the baseball hot-bed of California: Tom Bowen (Alameda), Addison Gentry (Roseville), David Miller (Norco), K.J. Randhawa (Fairfield) and Spencer Tate (Escondido). Air Force also has two Colorado natives in McBride and Air Academy HS product Nick Batey.
The Falcons also welcome thee players from Arizona in Sprague and the Whiteman brothers, Brent and Gary. Gary was a 10-game winner at Scottsdale C.C. and enters the Academy with three years of baseball eligibility. Ben Ausbun (Puyallup, Wash.) and Brain Nelson (Cedar Creek, Texas) round out the class of 2010.
"I am very proud of the work my staff has put into this freshman class," Hutcheon remarked. "We have a lot of holes to fill and we feel that with the talent this class brings it should be a very competitive fall. It will be exciting to see who steps up and wins a job. The two specific areas we will concentrate from year to year is, quality arms and athletic ability. We have improved our team significantly in both of these areas and feel good about building around this years class in years to come."
