Air Force Falls To San Diego State, 60-51

San Diego, Calif. - In its first MWC road game of the season, the Air Force women's basketball team fell to San Diego State, 60-51, Sunday afternoon at Cox Arena. The Falcons drop to 4-11 on the season, 0-4 in the Mountain West Conference, while the Aztecs improve to 8-6, 1-2 in the league.
Neither team could get much of an advantage in the opening half, which featured six ties and five lead changes. San Diego State was able to score the final bucket of the first half, leaving the score tied at 30-30 at the break.
The game went back-and-forth to start the second half, as well, with Air Force leading 37-35 with 13:38 to play. However, SDSU knocked down four straight free throws, to get back on top, and never trailed again. The Aztecs scored 14 of their 30 second-half points at the charity stripe, including five in the final 50 seconds, to take the 60-51 victory.
Senior Dawn Higginbotham (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Falcons with a season-high 14 points, while Pamela Findlay (Glenview, Ill.) added 11 points.
Shanna Demus led the Aztecs with 20 poiints, while Quenese Davis had 10 points, eight assists and eight rebounds.
The Falcons return to action Thursday, Jan. 20, when they visit New Mexico. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
