Falcons Fall To Wyoming, 64-43

USAFA, Colo. - With a hot three-point shooting effort from the Cowgirls, the Air Force women's basketball team dropped a 64-43 contest to Wyoming Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. The Falcons fall to 4-15 overall, 0-8 in the Mountain West Conference, while the Cowgirls improve to 14-5, 5-2 in the MWC.
The Falcons got out to a 7-6 lead early in the game before the Cowgirls responded with an 8-0 run. Though Air Force was able to get back within a single point, Wyoming was still able to get a 34-29 lead at the half.
Air Force got back within three points to start the second half with a basket by senior Letricia Castillo (Anchorage, Alaska), but Wyoming hit four unanswered three-point field goals to extend its lead to double digits. The Cowgirls knocked down six of their first eight three-point field goals in the half, while holding the Falcons to just 14 points after the break.
Junior Alecia Steele (Oklahoma City, Okla.) was the lone scorer in double-figures for the Falcons, finishing with 12 points. Megan McGuffey led the Cowgirls with 17 points, while Hanna Zavecz added 12 points.
Air Force returns to action next Sunday, Feb. 4, when it travels to Colorado State for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
