Dana Pounds Set to Compete at Pan American Games

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Former Air Force Academy standout 2Lt. Dana Pounds will serve as the lone javelin representative for Team USA at the 15th annual Pan American Games, which are being held this week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The javelin throw will take place on Friday, July 27, at 5:45 p.m. BRT.
The Pan American Games, which run from July 13-29, feature over 5500 athletes from 42 countries that will participate in 38 different sports.
Fresh off of her javelin title at the 2007 AT&T U.S. Track and Field Championships, Pounds currently holds the second-best throw in the nation with a personal-best distance of 195'8". A two-time NCAA Champion, Pounds represents the Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP).
Following her competition in Brazil, Pounds will head to Osaka, Japan, for the IAFF World Outdoor Championships (Aug. 25-Sept. 2). She will be joined by Air Force head coach Ralph Lindeman, who was selected as the Head Manager for Team USA.
