The Air Force men's soccer team posted 11 shots on goal but dropped a 1-0 decision Saturday to Central Arkansas at Normal, Ala. The loss is the Falcons' third consecutive one-goal defeat as they fell to 2-5 this season. With the victory, Central Arkansas improved to 3-6.
UCA notched the game's only goal in the 55th minute when Jimmy Nummy placed a shot by Falcon goalie Brian Guyette. The assist was credited to Randy Randolph. It was one of only two shots on goal for the Bears as the Air Force defense once again played a solid game.
Air Force, meanwhile, totaled 11 shots on goal, all of which were saved by UCA goalie Tyler Beckerle. Senior Chris Mathews had a game-high three, while senior Andy Nigro, sophomore Kevin Rosser and freshman Kyle Moses, who had his first career start, each had two. Air Force held an 18-7 advantage in total shots and had six corner kicks to UCA's one.
The Falcons are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 30 against Alabama A&M, beginning at 12 p.m.(MT).
