Air Force Continues Stellar Action in Friday Fights

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force boxing team continued to showcase its talent during another round of Friday Night Fights on Nov. 21. It was another exciting night of hotly contested bouts, as all but one went to the final bell. Senior Sean May, one of nine winners on the night, was named the Academy's Boxer of the Week.
In a 158-pound bout, May defeated sophomore Michael Dunn for his second victory in as many weeks. Avenging a loss to Dunn during the 2008 Wing Open semifinals, May used a good jab and solid counterpunch to secure the judges' decision.
Six of the remaining eight bouts featured classmates contending against one another.
Senior Lucas Gagliardi opened the night with a win over classmate Elon Brumfield in a 183-pound bout, while fellow senior Austin Almand decisioned classmate Justin Lee in a 171-pound match-up. Junior Bailey Ball won a 153-pound bout over fellow junior Seth Gunn, while sophomore Joseph Silvio took a decision from classmate Vincent Miranda at 163 pounds.
Sophomore Dalton Hall defeated junior Frederick Diederich in a 172-pound contest, while sophomore Gavin Foley earned a referee-stopped victory over freshman Ethan Salgado at 142 pounds. A quartet of freshmen took part in the final two bouts. Kevin Escobedo decisioned Rainer Caparas at 125 pounds, while Luke Dugger took a 170-pound decision from Casey Habluetzel.
Select members of the Falcons' roster will travel to New York, N.Y., for the annual National Collegiate Boxing Association showcase at the New York Athletic Club on Monday, Nov. 24.
