Falcons Travel To Texas-Pan American
The Air Force women's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Edinburg, Texas, to take on Texas-Pan American this Wednesday, Nov. 26. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. CST. Live play-by-play will be available for the game.
Scouting Air Force
Air Force is 1-2 on the season after splitting its two games last week. The Falcons defeated Chadron State, 74-52 and lost to Milwaukee 57-48. Senior guard Brooke Cultra leads the team offensively, scoring 17.5 points per game to go with 9.0 rebounds per game. Senior Kim Kreke is the top rebounder in the conference averaging 14.3 boards per game.
Air Force In 2007-08
Air Force went 10-19 in 2007-09. The Falcons were 4-12 in Mountain West Conference play, finishing in seventh place. The four conference wins and seventh place finish were all-time bests in MWC play for Air Force. Senior forward Alecia Steele led Air Force in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Steele was also named team MVP. Steele and senior guard Pamela Findlay earned all-MWC honors.
Texas-Pan American
Texas-Pan American is 2-1 on the season after defeating Texas Lutheran 97-66 last Thursday. The Lady Broncos, members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, are averaging 69.7 points per game and allowing 59.7 ppg. Texas-Pan American's is led by senior guard Teshay Winfrey, who leads the team with 14.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Kreke Sets Academy Rebounding Mark
Kim Kreke recorded 19 rebounds against Milwaukee. That total is an Air Force Div. I record, eclipsing thre previous mark of 16 set by Mollie Peters vs. Texas-Pan American on Nov. 23, 1997. The 19 rebounds ties for the fourth-most in Air Force history, the seventh-highest mark in Mountain West Conference history and the second-highest total by a senior in MWC history.

Last Meeting vs. Texas-Pan American
Texas-Pan American was able to out-last Air Force, winning 68-67 in overtime in the opening game of the 2003 Air Force Classic on Nov. 23, 2003.
The Falcons rallied back from a 40-29 halftime deficit, and were down by as many as 14 with 10 minutes tp play, before eventually tying the game up at the end of regulation.
The Lady Broncos scored the first basket 15 seconds into overtime and never trailed again. Air Force led just once in the game, 59-58, with 2:30 left in the game.
Amoy Jackson, Letricia Castillo and Andrea Taylor scored 15 points each to lead the Falcons. Ashley Roberts led UTPA with 15 points and Jennifer Piwonka and Molly Schamel added 10 points each.
Current Air Force assistant coach Lt. Jennifer Roesch scored two ponts in the game and had six rebounds and four assists.
Air Force shot 41.5 percent from the field and a sub-par 58.8 percent from the free throw line. Texas-Pan American shot 46.6 percent from the field and made 53.3 percent of its free throw attempts.

Chadron State Game Recap
A big first-half lifted the Air Force women's basketball team to a 74-52 win over Chadron State Thursday night in Clune Arena. Raimee Beck scored 21 points and Brooke Cultra added 19 to lead the way for the Falcons.
Beck recorded her first-career double-double, tying a career high with the 21 points and setting a career-best with 11 rebounds. The 19 points for Cultra was a career-high. The senior also finished with nine rebounds for the second-straight game to start the season.
Kim Kreke had a career-high 13 rebounds had a season-best four blocks to go with seven points. Stevie Puentes notched a career-high 11points, sinking 3-of-3 three-point baskets off the bench for the Falcons.
Chadron State kept the game from getting out of hand by sinking 12 three-point baskets. Tabitha Gutierrez led the Eagles off the bench, scoring a team-high 18 points. Gutierrez was a scorching 6-for-6 from three-point land, all in the second half. Sunni Busch also reached double-figures in scoring for Chadron State, with 11 points and six rebounds.
The Falcons sank six three-pointers in the first-half to race out to a 39-18 halftime lead. Air Force shot 40.3 percent from the field for the game, and made 41.2 percent from three-point land. The Falcons continued to shoot well from the free-throw stripe, making 17of-19 attempts, good for an 89.5 percentage.
Freshman Anna Gault made her first start for Air Force, scoring two points and dishing out an assist in 23 minutes. Fellow freshmen Jamela Satterfield and Amber Wilmore saw their first action as Falcons. Satterfield calmly drilled a three-point basket in her first shot attempt and finished the night with four points and six rebounds in 17 minutes. Wilmore saw two minutes of action in reserve.
Junior Kathleen Schjodt also earned her first-career start at forward, scoring five points and grabbing two rebounds in 22 minutes. Liz Dunsworth also had a productive 17 minutes off the bench, scoring five points and grabbing five rebounds. Jenny Bandi also got into the game, playing three minutes in reserve.
Milwaukee Game Recap
Despite career performances from seniors Brooke Cultra and Kim Kreke, the Air Force women's basketball team was unable to get past visiting Milwaukee, falling 57-48 Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena.
Cultra pitched in more than half of Air Force's points, scoring a career-high 25 against Milwaukee, and was just one rebound short of her first career double-double. Meanwhile, Kreke set a new Division I single-game rebound record with 19 boards, while also pitching in nine points.
Milwaukee took the advantage from the opening tip, and never trailed, taking advantage of Air Force's 23 turnovers. Although the Panthers led by as many as 11 points in the opening half, the Falcons were able to cut the deficit to four at intermission. A layup by Cultra brought Air Force within two points with just under 12 minutes to play, but it was as close as the Falcons would get the rest of the way.
Air Force was still within striking distance in the closing minutes, but the Panthers scored their final five points from the charity stripe on their way to the nine-point victory.
Kreke MWC's Top Rebounder
Kim Kreke leads the Mountain West Conference with 14.3 rebounds per game. The next closest player is Utah's Katie King with 10.0 rebounds per game. Kreke averaged 4.6 rebounds per game as a junior.

Kreke Becomes Div. I Era Shot Block Leader
With four blocked shots against Chadron State and one against Milwaukee, senior Kim Kreke now has 57 blocks for her career. That total is the most Air Force in the Div. I era, surpassing Ellen Jaeshke. Kreke currently ranks 6th all-time in shot blocks.

Air Force is the Mountain West Conference's top rebounding team, averaging 44.3 rebounds per game and the top free throw percentage team, making 83 percent from the line. The Falcons averaged 35.7 rebounds per game and made 71.4 percent from the line in 2007-08.

Cultra Off To Strong Senior Campaign
Senior Brooke Cultra is off to a hot start so far this season. Cultra is Air Force's leading scorer, averaging 17.7 points per game and second-leading rebounder, averaging 9.0 boards per game. Cultra is third in the conference in scoring and fourth in rebounding. The senior guard had back-to-back games where she reached her career-high for points in a game. Cultra scored 19 points against Chadron State and 25 against Milwaukee.
Beck Emerging As A Scorer
Despite an off-night against Milwaukee, sophomore shooting guard Raimee Beck is becoming one of the conference's top scorers. Beck ranks second on the team and eighth in the MWC, averaging 15.0 points per game. Beck averaged nine points per game as a freshman point guard. Beck scored 18 points in the season-opener vs. Northern Colorado and 21 points against Chadron State.
Injury Sidelines Loveless For Remainder Of Season
Senior power forward Dana Loveless will miss the remainder of the 2008-09 season after suffering a sprained ankle and torn left ACL in the season-opener against Northern Colorado. Both injuries happened on the same play just eight minutes into the game.
Falcons Picked To Finish Ninth In MWC
In the preseason conference poll released in October, Air Force was chosen by the coaches and select media to finish ninth in the Mountain West.

A record seven Air Force women's basketball regular season games will be televised. The Falcons will have four games on the Mountain West Sports Network (Mtn.) and games on CBS College Sports (CBS C), Fox Rocky Mountain (Fox RM) and BYU TV.
