Falcons Play Final Two at Home
The Air Force Falcons (4-11, 2-5 MPSF) travel north on I-25 this Saturday, Nov. 8 for a 1 p.m. game against the University of Denver. The Falcons are coming off a pair of losses last weekend, 3-0 to Sacramento State and 1-0 to San Jose State, that wrapped up this season's home schedule.
Denver enters Saturday's game with an 8-5-2 overall record and a 6-0-1 mark in MPSF play. The Pioneers are in first place in the league, while the Falcons are tied for fifth. DU defeated Air Force, 1-0, on Oct. 11 at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
AFA Drops Final Home Games
Air Force could not find the back of the net last weekend as the Falcons lost thier final two home games of the 2008 campaign. The Falcons lost to Sacramento State, 3-0, on Friday, Oct. 31, then dropped a 1-0 decision to San Jose State on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Goals Hard to Come By
The Falcons have struggled scoring goals this season, especially at home. In seven games at Cadet Soccer Stadium this season, Air Force managed to score just one goal. That goal was scored by junior Steve Noller in a 1-0 victory over UNLV. Noller leads the team with four goals and no other Falcon has more than one goal this season.
Gullo Still in National Stats
Junior goalie Jim Gullo is ranked 30th in the country in saves per game at 4.93. He made three saves against Sacramento State and five against San Jose State. Gullo currently leads the MPSF with 74 saves.
Freshmen Getting Good Time
Air Force head coach Doug Hill has seen a youth movement this season. Hill has played nine freshmen at different times this season. Of the eight players that have points this year, three are freshmen.
