Air Force Drops Three on Day Two at Anteater Shootout

IRVINE, Calif. - Competing in the top half of the eight-team bracket, the Air Force men's swimming and diving team went 0-3 on day two of the Anteater Shootout, hosted by UC Irvine. The Falcons fell to Hawaii, 78-35, BYU, 62-51, and UNLV, 68-45. With the three losses, Air Force drops to 4-5 overall on the season.
Sophomore Benjamin Gunn (Gainesville, Ga.) picked up the lone individual win for the Falcons, coming in first in the 200 IM with a mark of 1:53.69. Gunn also added a third-place showing in the 200 fly, clocking in at 1:52.58.
Junior Sean O'Keefe (Lake Oswego, Ore.), had three top-five finishes, including a third-place showing in the 200 free with a mark of 1:42.50. He also took fifth in both the 500 free (4:42.97) and 1000 free (9:40.84) events to lead the Falcons' distance swimmers.
Two Air Force swimmers placed fourth in their respective events, as Kai Yamashiro (Sr., Kaneohe, Hawaii) took fourth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.15, while Josh Hammervold (So., Sugar Land, Texas) placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke with a mark of 2:09.79.
Sophomore Robert Dawson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was the Falcons' top performer in the 50 freestyle, placing fifth with a mark of 21.27, while junior Chris Morin (Crown Point, Ind.) paced Air Force in the 100 free, finishing 10th in a time of 47.40.
In the relay events, Air Force took third place in the 400 medley relay, while finishing fourth in the 400 freestyle relay. Meanwhile, leading the divers was junior Kyle Van Valkenburg (Tucson, Ariz.) who finished third in the 3-meter dive and fifth at 1-meter. Mean
