Air Force Falls At New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Air Force women's basketball team lost 79-40, at New Mexico, Wednesday night in Mountain West Conference action at the PIT. Air Force fell to 8-16 overall and 2-10 in conference play, New Mexico improved to 14-11, 6-6.
Air Force got off to another sluggish start, shooting just 22.7 percent from the field in the opening half, as New Mexico jumped out to a 35-15 halftime lead. The Falcons' first three baskets came on three's as they could not score inside.
Freshman Raimee Beck led the Falcons with eight points and five rebounds. Air Force had six blocked shots in the game, with Brooke Cultra recording three swats and Kim Kreke two. Senior Alecia Steele was second on the team with six points and four rebounds.
Dionne Marsh had game high's of 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the Lobos. UNM shot 48.3 percent from the field and had 43 points from the bench.
Sophomore Kathleen Schjodt made her season-debut for the Falcons, grabbing a rebound. In addition, freshmen Jennifer Bandi and Candice Chase played their first conference games.
The Falcons return to action Sunday, Feb. 24, hosting Colorado State. The game will be televised live on the Mountain West Sports Network beginning at 2 p.m. MST.
