David Lissy Named NSCA All-American

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force senior David Lissy, the 2008 Mountain West Conference indoor shot put champion, was honored by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) with its All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year award. The annual award recognizes student-athletes' dedication to strength training and conditioning.
Lissy was one of 239 collegiate athletes from 165 schools that were honored with the award this year. A co-captain of the 2007-08 season, Lissy was the recipient of the team's Laura Piper Ironman Award, which is given to and individual who competes in, excels in and scores in multiple events at scoring meets. It is named after Laura Piper, who was killed in Operation Desert Shield.
Air Force strength coach Buck Blackwood, who nominated Lissy for this award, had this to say about the senior. "David represents the model leader in athletics and as a future Air Force officer. His hard work throughout the last four year in the ring and weight room has set the standard for our younger athletes."
The NSCA All-American Athlete of the Year Award program is in its 29th year and is made possible by a grant from Power Systems, Inc., a Knoxville, Tenn., fitness product leader.
