Steven Noller has been named the Brine Co-Player of the Week by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation after leading the Falcons to the BSC Armed Forces Classic title last weekend.
Noller, who shared the award with Lamar Neagle of UNLV, scored two of Air Force's three goals this weekend as the Falcons claimed one-goal victories over service-academy rivals Navy and Army. It was the first time since 1984 that Air Force defeated both Navy and Army in the same season.
In the first round of the Classic on Friday, Noller scored the game's only goal on a rocket from about 10 yards in the 77th minute as Air Force defeated Navy, 1-0. It was AFA's first win over Navy since 1984. Freshman Zach Brinlee recorded an assist on the play, his first collegiate point.
On Sunday against Army, Noller scored the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute after collecting a pass from Kevin Rosser and scoring on a breakaway past Army goalie A.J. Glubzinski. Brinlee scored the game winner for Air Force later in the first half.
Noller, a junior from Fort Collins, Colo., currently leads the team in scoring this season with five points (2g, 1a). He also has team-highs of 14 total shots and eight shots on goal.
