Falcons Finish Up at Regional Tournament

The Air Force men's tennis team finished play at the ITA Mountain Region Tournament Friday at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Senior Brett Rodgers and junior Taylor Soster won two more matches in the doubles consolation bracket, while freshman Lance Wilhelm lost in the singles consolation bracket.
Rodgers and Soster opened the day with an 8-2 victory over Henning Hipp and Spencer Marchant of Boise State, then completed their tournament with a thrilling 9-8 upset victory over the ninth-seeded team of Phil Anderson and Carl Ho of New Mexico. The Falcon duo won the tiebreaker, 7-3.
Wilhelm closed out his tourney on Friday with a tough, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 loss to Alex Joitoiu of Idaho in the third round of consolation.
The regional tournament wrapped up the fall season for Air Force, which opens its spring season on Saturday, Jan. 30 in Greeley against Northern Colorado.
