Four Fencers Won Titles At Falcon Open

Four Air Force Academy fencers won championship titles this weekend at the Annual Falcon Open. Earning the women's saber title was Heather Nelson who won the gold medal bout, 15-12, against her opponent from the Denver Fencing Center. Capturing the mixed saber title was Michael O'Connor after winning the final bout against teammate Anthony Lorenzini, 15-8. Lorenzini finished second. The mixed epee title went to Peter French who won 15-8 against Academy fencer Daniel Trapani. Trapani was the runner up in mixed epee.
Simone Barrette advanced to the championship round in women's epee, but lost, 15-11, against her opponent from the Northwest Fencing Center. Nick Stockdale tied for third place in the pool of 35 in mixed foil. Nelson and Geoffrey Pamerleau tied for third place in the pool of 32 in mixed saber. Phil Choy finished fifth and French took seventh place in the pool of 35 fencers in mixed foil. CJ Jung finished in eighth place among the pool of 15 in women's foil.
