Falcons Back Out on Road
The Air Force Falcons continue play within the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation this weekend with a pair of games on the road. Air Force, 7-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the MPSF, will play at Cal-State Bakersfield (6-6-2, 1-3) on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m., and at Seattle University (2-10-1, 1-3) on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. Both teams are tied for fifth place in the conference standings.
Air Force Sweeps UNM and UNLV
The Falcons improved to 5-0-1 at home this season with a pair of league wins at Cadet Soccer Stadium. Air Force defeated New Mexico, 1-0, on Firday for the first victory over UNM since Oct. 24, 2003. Kevin Rosser scored the game's only goal with a PK in the 86th minute. On Sunday, Rosser also scored on a PK and senior Jared Gomez knocked home the game-winner with 4:21 remaining in a 2-1 victory over UNLV.
Wilson Named to National Team of the Week
Sophomore defender Eric Wilson was named to the CollegeSoccerNews.com National Team of the Week for the period ending Oct. 25. The team recognizes the top eleven performers in the country.
Wilson is the second Falcons named to the team this season as Kevin Rosser was named following the first week of action.
Mauro MPSF Player of the Week
Freshman Goalie Mike Mauro was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week after making 10 saves and allowing just one goal in AFA's two wins this past weekend. He made six saves in a 1-0 shutout over New Mexico, then had four saves in a 2-1 win over UNLV. Mauro currently leads the MPSF with a.780 saves percentage.
