Evan Fassler scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 57th minute to lead the CSU Bakersfield men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Air Force Friday night at Main Soccer Field in Bakersfield, Calif. With the victory, CSUB improved to 7-6-2 overall and 2-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, while the Falcons fell to 7-6-1 and 2-3 in league play.
Fassler scored the game-winner after receiving a cross from Kory Kindle and placing a shot past Falcon goalie Mike Mauro for his fifth tally of the season.
Air Force freshman Kevin Durr opened the scoring in the 19th minute with his second goal of the season. He took a low crossing pass from senior Josh Rhynard and one-touched a shot into the near post past CSUB keeper Eric Shannon.
Fassler evened up the game at 1-all in the 42nd minute by taking a thru ball from Ken Taylor and firing a rocket from 20 yards that eluded Mauro.
The Roadrunners outshot Air Force 12-9 in total shots and held a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. Mauro made four saves for the Falcons, while Shannon had two for CSUB.
