Air Force Set to Host Blue-Silver Intrasquad Match

The Air Force wrestling team will preview its 2009-10 season this week, Nov. 5, when it hosts the annual Blue-Silver Intrasquad Match in Clune Arena at 7:00 p.m. The event, which is open to the public and will also be videostreamed at goairforcefalcons.com, will feature 10 bouts to determine the Falcons' starting lineup heading into the season. Meanwhile, the JV team will take on the Academy Prep School at 5:00 p.m. in a precursor to the main event.
Among the competitors in Thursday night's matches are four wrestlers who earned byes to the final round as returning starters in their respective weight classes—Andrew Zwirlein (Jr., Nashotah, Wis.) at 125 pounds, Alec Williams (So., Birmingham, Ala.) at 149 pounds, team captain Justin Shadrix (Sr., Bremen, Ga.) at 165 pounds and heavyweight Stephen Larson (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.). In addition, senior Tyler French (Malta, Mont.), a 2008 NCAA qualifier, returns to competition at 174 pounds after missing most of the 2008-09 season due to injury.
