James Walmsley Places 19th at USA Cross Country Championships

DERWOOD, Md. - Air Force freshman James Walmsley placed 19th at the USA Cross Country Championships (Junior Division) this afternoon in Derwood, Md. Walmsley clocked a career-best time of 25:36 in the 8K event that featured runners from around the country, ranging in age from 17-19.
Walmsley finished within the top third of the field of 67 runners. His time was over a minute better than his previous season-high time, which was recorded during his first 8K meet of the year at San Diego State.
A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., Walmsley had a stellar prep career at Horizon High School. He was a Footlocker National finalist (23rd) in 2007, as well as the cross country champion at the Mt. SAC SuperSweeps and Doug Conley Invitational.
