Falcons Head to Three California Competitions

The Air Force track and field team heads to California for several meets this weekend. The multi-event athletes will compete at the California Invitational Decathlon and Heptathlon (April 15-16), while the rest of the squad will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays (April 17-18) and Beach Invitational (April 18).
MEET INFORMATION
The California Invitational multi-events begin at 9:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 15, and continue through Thursday afternoon. Three of the distance events for the Mt SAC Relays will also be held on Thursday. The Mt SAC Relays continue through Saturday, April 18.
CURRY EARNS MEET HONOR
Senior Kellen Curry, who won two events and ran a leg of the second-place 4x100-meter relay team, was named the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Tom Botts Invitational in Missouri on April 11. Curry clocked the third-best time in Academy history to win the 200-meter dash (21.20), while placing first in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.51. He also ran the final leg of the 4x100-meter relay team that placed second in 41.75.
FALCONS SHARE THIRD AT TOM BOTTS INVITATIONAL
The men's team accounted for 175.50 points to place third at Missouri's Tom Botts Invitational, while the women earned a third-place total of 130 points. In all, Air Force claimed six first-place finishes and one Meet record.
NEUBAUER CAPS OFF STELLAR DAY WITH MEET RECORD
Sara Neubauer set a new Tom Botts Invitational record in the discus throw, as she won the event with a career-best 173'7". The junior also improved her personal-best mark in the hammer throw for the fourth straight week, taking third with a toss of 165'2". She also placed second in the shot put.
RECAPPING THE WOMEN'S MEET
In addition to Sara Neubauer's victory discus throw, the women picked up several other first-place finishes. Katie Weber won the javelin throw with a distance of 143'10", while Kimber Shealy placed first on the pole vault at 12'1½". From the track, Ally Romanko clocked a career-best time of 4:32.56 to take first in the 1500-meter run.
BACKING UP BLACKBURN
Freshman Paige Blackburn finished second in the javelin throw, third in the discus and fifth in the shot put at the Tom Botts Invitational. She impacted the Academy's record book in all three events, as she improved her all-time standings in the shot put (fifth, 44'4"), javelin throw (eighth, 138'4") and discus throw (tenth, 144'5").
PICKING UP SOME WINS
In addition to Kellen Curry's wins in the 200-meter dash and 110-meter hurdles, Air Force earned a first-place finish in the javelin as Connor Van Fossen won the event with a toss of 199'10".
