Falcons Off to Strong Start at California Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif. - Highlighted by top-10 finishes from all seven competitors, the Air Force track and field team got off to a strong start at California's Brutus Hamilton Invitational on Friday, April 25, in Berkeley, Calif. Senior Kellen Curry paced the squad with a winning regional qualifying time of 21.31 in the 200-meter dash.
Junior Dan Paladino was the top collegiate finisher (and second overall) in the hammer throw, recording a distance of 185'4". On the women's side, classmate Sara Neubauer tossed a 163'0" to place seventh.
Sophomore Connor Van Fossen paced a trio of Falcons to top-10 finishes in the javelin throw. Van Fossen recorded a distance of 196'7" to place third, while senior Harmon Gage and sophomore Jon Santiago finished seventh (186'1") and 10th (182'6"), respectively.
Freshman Matthew Jones wrapped up action for Air Force with a fourth-place time of 53.07 in the 400-meter hurdles.
The 16-member contingent of Air Force athletes at Brutus Hamilton Invitational continue action tomorrow (April 25) at Berkeley. The remainder of the Air Force squad will travel to Fort Collins, Colo., for the annual Jack Christiansen Invitational.
