Falcon Field Undergoes Renovations For 2010

The day following the graduation of the class of 2009, construction workers broke ground on the renovation project to Falcon Field, home of Air Force baseball.
The new synthetic FieldTurf will cover the infield and outfield and will replace Falcon Field's current Sport Turf which had been installed in 2004 on the infield. In addition to field upgrades, the entire fencing surrounding Falcon Field will also be replaced. Wind screens on the outfield fence and a hitters' eye are also part of the project which is slated to be completed in late August.
"We are very excited about the upgrades to our playing surface," said Falcons Head Baseball Coach Mike Hutcheon. "The all-weather surface will be a major step in improving our program and our facility. Adding this facelift to our stadium will ensure our chances to play and practice in any type of weather condition, and that is a huge deal in Colorado. I also feel it will be a major selling point in all of our recruiting efforts in getting the best student/athletes in the country."
Falcon Field is one of the most unique college baseball facilities in the nation as it sits 7,000+ feet over sea level. Set against the Rampart Range of the Rocky Mountains, Falcon Field has been the home of Air Force baseball since 1957.
