Falcons Finish Up at Baylor Invite

The Air Force men's tennis team wrapped up play Saturday at the Baylor HEB Intercollegiate Invitational in Waco, Texas. Two Falcon doubles teams fell in the quarterfinals, while sophomore Cody Hall and freshman Stephen Katrein lost in the consolation singles bracket.
Hall had two thrilling matches on Saturday in the flight "B" consolation draw. He started the day by rallying from a set down to defeat Carlon Alpar of New Mexico State, 4-6, 6-2, (12-10), then dropped a 7-5, 2-6, (10-8) decision to Tulsa's Rusty Turpin in the quarterfinals. Katrein, meanwhile, lost his consolation match to Dennis Polakov of Rice, 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles action, Katrein and senior Austin Francis lost their quarterfinal match to Fabio Biasion and Andrew Landwerlen of Denver, 8-5, while senior Brett Rodgers and junior Taylor Soster fell to Bryan Joiner and John Strahl of Abilene Christian, 8-2.
The Falcons are idle until the UNM Balloon Fiesta Classic in Albuquerque, N.M., beginning Friday, Oct. 9.
