Air Force Announces 2010 Track and Field Schedule

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Three home competitions, including the annual Air Force Invitational, highlight the 2010 Air Force track and field schedule that head coach Ralph Lindeman recently announced. The Falcons will compete in 10 meets during the indoor season, while traveling to 16 during the outdoor portion of the year.
Air Force will host three meets during the regular season at the Academy's Cadet Field House, beginning with the Air Force All-Comers Meet on Jan. 15. For the second straight year, the Falcons will host the Don Barrett Duals on Jan. 30, facing off with Colorado, Colorado State, Northern Colorado and Wyoming. Some of the country's top teams will descend on the Academy during the Feb. 12-13 weekend, as the Falcons host the 20th Air Force Collegiate Invitational.
During the indoor season, the Falcons will compete at the annual Big 12-Mountain West Conference Challenge (Jan. 23) in Lincoln, Neb., as well as the New Mexico Invitational (Feb. 5-6) in Albuquerque, N.M., and the Robert Shine Invitational (Feb. 19) in Laramie, Wyo. In addition, the pole vault team will travel to the prestigious Pole Vault Summit (Jan. 30) in Reno, Nev., while the top distance runners will head to the Washington Invitational (Feb. 12-13) in Seattle, Wash.
The 2010 Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships will be held Feb. 25-27 in Albuquerque, N.M., while the NCAA Indoor Championships will be held March 12-13 in Fayetteville, Ark.
The outdoor season begins March 20 at the George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, Va. The Falcons will remain on the East Coast during their spring break, as the men look to defend their title at the Service Academy Championships on March 26-27 in Lexington, Va.
There are several split-squad competitions on the schedule for the Falcons in the spring. During the April 2-3 weekend, the majority of the team will head to the Tom Benich Classic in Greeley, Colo., while select sprinters, hurdlers and field event athletes will travel to the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. The weekend of April 10 will see the team head to the Sun Angel Classic (Tempe, Ariz.) and the .Colorado Invitational (Boulder, Colo.). While several athletes will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays (April 14-17) in Walnut, Calif., others will compete at the CSU-Pueblo Invitational (Pueblo, Colo.) and the Long Beach Invitational (Cerritos, Calif.) on April 17. A dual meet at Wyoming (April 24) in Laramie, Wyo., the annual Front Range Classic (May 1) in Fort Collins, Colo., and the Payton Jordan Invitational in (May 1) for the distance runners in Palo Alto, Calif., round out the Falcons' regular season.
Like the conference's indoor meet, the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships will also be held in Albuquerque, N.M. The four-day meet will be held May 12-15. The NCAA Regional Championships (May 27-29) will take place in Austin, Texas. The top athletes from that meet will head to the NCAA National Championships on June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore. The 2010 USA Track and Field Championships will conclude the season on June 24-27 in Des Moines, Iowa.
