Former Falcon Brian Dumm Wins Air Force Marathon

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio - Former Air Force distance runner Capt Brian Dumm (Class of 2005) was the winner of the annual Air Force Marathon, held last month at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. Clocking a time of 2:27:49, Dumm won the 26.2-mile race that featured over 1700 men's competitors and 2400 total runners.
Dumm, a three-year letterwinner in cross country and a four-year letterwinner in track and field, is currently an instructor in the Academy's English department. The 2004 Most Valuable Runner for the cross country team, Dumm was the overall men's winner of the Air Force MArathon, as well as the active military winner.
With the win, Dumm automatically qualified for the Marine Corps Marathon, the armed forces championship, in Washington D.C. later this month.
In addition, Capt Ben Payne (Class of 2004) was the overall and active military winner of the men's half marathon. Currently residing in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Payne was a four-year letterwinner of both the cross country and track teams, a two-time MVP of the cross country team, the 2004 MVP of the track team and the Academy's Most Valuable Male Athlete as a senior. In a 13.1-mile race that featured over 2000 men and 4300 total runners, Payne won with a time of 1:08:28.
