Falcons Open MPSF Tournament on Thursday
The Air Force Falcons open the 2010 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 11 against the Sacramento State Hornets in the quarterfinals. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Hornet Soccer Field in Sacramento, Calif. Air Force is the tournament's No. 4 seed after finishing the regular season with a 7-11 overall record and 5-5 mark the MPSF, while the Hornets are the fifth-seeded team and finished 7-4-7 overall and 2-2-6 in league play.
Air Force Falls in Season Finale to DU
The Falcons dropped its regular season finale Saturday night, 2-0, to the University of Denver at CIBER Field in Denver.
Kellan Christensen and Blair Jeralds each scored a first-half goal for the Pioneers and two DU goalies combined for the shutout. Christensen scored in the 14th minute after taking a pass from Matt Kirby and putting a shot past AFA sophomore goalie Matt Underwood.
Jeralds added the insurance goal in the 22nd minute off a corner kick from Mark Weigand. DU held a 12-8 advantage in total shots and a 6-2 lead in shots on goal. Sophomore Trevor Wade and freshman Caleb Downey each had a shot on goal for Air Force and Underwood made four saves.

Last Season at the MPSF Tournament
Air Force lost a shootout to Denver in the quarterfinals of the 2009 MPSF Tournament in Denver. The Falcons rallied from two goals down with 15 minutes left in regulation to force overtime with goals from Garrett Getschow and Kevin Durr. However, the Pioneers advanced to the semifinals after taking the shootout, 3-1.
Durr Close to the Top in Stats
Sophomore Kevin Durr finished the regular season with 55 total shots, the third-highest total in the MPSF. He finished second in shots per game at 3.24 and tied for the lead with four game-winning goals.
Durr leads the team with 20 shots on goal, followed by senior Kyle Moses with 15 and sophomore Zane Dydasco with 10. In addition, Dydasco is tied for fourth in the MPSF with five assists. He had a three-game streak with an assist snapped on Oct. 31 at CSU Bakersfield.
Falcons Picked Eighth, Finish Fourth
The Falcons were picked eighth in the 2010 MPSF preseason coaches poll, voted on by the league's eight head coaches. The Falcons finished fourth in the league, the greatest margin between prediction and actual finish in the conference this season.
