Air Force junior Taylor Soster has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Soster, who hails from Allen, Texas, went a combined 4-0 last weekend to lead the Falcons to a pair of wins over Seattle University (7-0) and St. Peter's College (7-0). On Friday against the Redhawks, Soster defeated Patrick Boorkman (6-3, 6-4) at the No. 3 singles spot, after teaming with senior Brett Rodgers to down Mark Shkerbtan and Yusuke Kanehira (8-6) at No. 1 doubles. Against the Peacocks on Saturday, Soster saved two match points in a super tie-breaker, rallying to pull out a narrow victory over Robert Forai (7-5, 4-6 (11-9)) at No. 3 singles. Earlier in the same nonconference dual, Soster teamed with Rodgers to defeat the tandem of Alex and Chris Frakes (8-7), extending the duo's winning streak to 10-straight matches at the top of the doubles lineup.
The Falcons travel to Orlando, Fla., for their annual spring break trip. They will face service-academy rival Army on Sunday, March 21 at 9:30, then Central Florida on Thursday, March 25 at 2 p.m.
