WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior Cory Tintzman claimed the lone victory for the Air Force boxing team, as the squad continued action at the semifinals of the National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) Championships on Friday, April 9, in West Point, N.Y. Tintzman advanced to his first appearance in the title bout after taking a decision from Mansfield's Zach Perchinski at 195 pounds.
Tintzman's victory was the only one for the Falcons during the two sessions of semifinal action.
During the morning session, freshman Andrew Pineda lost a 119-pound decision to Army's Andrew Manglimont, while senior Sam Sheppard fell in a 125-pound bout to Army's Denilo Garcia. Junior Michael Mizes also lost to an Army boxer, as Johnny Garcia won the 132-pound decision. Senior Bailey Ball concluded the morning session for Air Force with a 139-pound loss to Navy's Paul Hollwedel.
In the afternoon round of action, junior Dalton Hall lost by decision to Army's Ryle Stous in one of two 139-pound semifinals, while sophomore Mike McLain dropped a 175-pound contest to Jamal Robinson of Army. Tintzman closed out the day with the Falcons' lone win.
